UKDS Event 18 August 2024

It was beautiful weather for our event and we had 22 entries over 3 levels. This was our first Foundation level and the competitors were put at ease by their judge Le Newman, and steward Jenny Orchard.

Novice was judged by Judy Meekings with Caroline Ashford stewarding and for Intermediate we welcomed Rosemary Turner who was ably assisted by Sam McGrath.

There were lots of qualifiers in each of the levels and many smiles all round. Well done everyone!!

Foundation Level

Judge - Leonie Newman
Steward - Jenny Orchard

I judged the Foundation class and enjoyed the company of some lovely handlers with their super dogs!

The standard was very good. The four that gained their certificates are definitely ready to go up a class and enter Beginners.

Those that didn’t make it just need a bit more practise so keep it up!

My thanks to the competitors for accepting my decisions and for being so enthusiastic about their dog training. Well done every one!

Leonie Newman

Intermediate Level

Steward - Sam McGrath

Thank you Banbury for inviting me to judge. What a wonderful venue for both training and brilliant for running a Trial.

My grateful thanks to Sam McGrath for excellent stewarding and also to Sheila for your organisation and ordering the dry weather, plus of course the refreshment crew.

It was a privilege to judge and I enjoyed my day watching your dogs working very well indeed, a few odd errors but good squares, Send aways and excellent agility, resulting in three excellent qualifiers, one qualifier and two who didn’t quite make the grade, Otis because of the stay exercise.

1st - after run off Jenny with Labrador Riplay 102.5 points. Well done, good search, lovely Send Away, points mainly lost on speak and heelwork.

2nd - Carol with Border Collie Kyla 102.5 points. Another lovely round, very methodical working the square, points mainly lost on heelwork and send away.

3rd - Diane with Bertie 102 points. A lovely round, control very good, heelwork and a drop in the search were main faults.

4th - Bev with Labradoodle Tilly 94.5 points. Oh dear, what a shame that Tilly thought the tunnel was a good shady area to have a lie down, as apart from faults in heelwork, was a really nice round and would have gained an Excellent qualification.

Good luck to all who will be going up to Advanced level next time.
