Working Trials
Training your dog for Working Trials is great fun and eventually becomes a way of life for both you and your dog.
As well as teaching the regular Obedience exercises of Heelwork, Recall, Dumbbell Retrieve and Sendaways, we teach our dogs to track up to 3 hour old tracks, which are ½ mile long and to search for articles, also to jump a 3ft Clear Jump, an 8ft Long Jump and a 5ft 6in Scale (which are significantly reduced for dogs under 15in).
You can see some of the advanced exercises in the videos below.
For the experienced handlers we hold regular training sessions on Saturdays at Ryelands field, Aynho from 9.30am to 1pm.
Before you can teach your dog the more advanced working trials’ exercises, your dog must have the following:
• a very good Play Retrieve
• a very good Recall
• an Instant Down (or Stop) on the run
Foundation Courses
For beginner handlers we now organise Foundation Courses to help you teach your dog the Play Retrieve, Recall, and Instant Down (or Stop) on the run, and to help you prepare your dog for the more advanced exercises.
These courses are held at Ryelands Field in Aynho from September to April on Sunday mornings from 10am to 12noon and from May to August on Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm.
